What is StayPaid?
StayPaid is a failed payment recovery tool for subscription businesses. It detects when a Stripe payment fails, shows it in your dashboard, and helps you send personal recovery emails from your own email address. The goal is to recover payments with a human touch, not robot spam.
How is StayPaid different from other dunning tools?
Most dunning tools automate everything. They send generic emails from no-reply addresses. StayPaid starts manual — you review each failed payment, add a personal note, and send from your own email. You can enable automation per-payment, but the default is founder-in-the-loop. Plus, it's $29/mo flat, not $249/mo.
How does the free trial work?
You get 3 free recoveries. No credit card required. No time limit. Use the product, see if it works for you. After 3 recoveries, you'll need to upgrade to $29/mo to continue.
Do I need a Stripe account?
Yes. StayPaid integrates with Stripe to detect failed subscription payments. You'll need your Stripe secret key during onboarding. StayPaid only reads failed payment events — it never charges customers or modifies subscriptions.
Can I use StayPaid without Stripe?
Not currently. StayPaid is built specifically for Stripe subscriptions. Support for other payment processors is on the roadmap but not available yet.
What email providers are supported?
Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, and any custom SMTP provider. You'll need to generate an app password from your email provider (not your main password) and enter it during onboarding. StayPaid encrypts this password at rest.
Is my data secure?
Yes. Your Stripe secret key and SMTP password are encrypted using AES-256 at rest. They are never exposed in the UI, never logged, and never sent to the client-side. StayPaid only uses your Stripe key to read failed payment events and your SMTP config to send emails.
Can I cancel anytime?
Absolutely. Cancel from your dashboard — no calls, no emails, no retention teams. If you forget to cancel and get charged, email us for a refund. We're not here to trap you.
What happens if I exceed 3 recoveries during the trial?
New failed payments will still appear in your dashboard, but you won't be able to send recovery emails until you upgrade. Your data and settings are preserved.
Can I customize the email templates?
You can choose the tone (friendly, professional, casual) and add a personal P.S. note to every email. Full template customization is on the roadmap.
Does StayPaid work with team accounts?
Currently, StayPaid is designed for solo founders. Team features are on the roadmap.
What happens if a customer replies to the recovery email?
The reply goes directly to your email inbox — not to StayPaid. It's a real conversation between you and your customer. That's the whole point.
Can I see if my emails were opened?
Not currently. Open tracking requires embedding tracking pixels, which can hurt deliverability and feel invasive. We may add it as an opt-in feature later.
What currencies are supported?
StayPaid supports all currencies that Stripe supports. The dashboard displays amounts in the customer's currency.
